We have answers to your most common questions! – December 2022
Can I change my program choice and if I already have an offer? Will I lose my offer if I change my choices?
Applicants can change their program choices up until the application deadline of March 1. If you receive an offer of admission and then resubmit your application with new program choices, if you change the program choice with the offer, your offer of admission will be cancelled in this process, and you will need to wait to be evaluated again.
I haven't received an offer of admission yet. How do I know the status of my application?
Most of our offers of admission are granted after fall term grades are available (February/March). Review your Student Centre to understand what you need to do to ensure we receive your fall grades. If you're not offered admission by the end of February, connect with admissions to see if you can make a strategic change to your application that would improve your chances of gaining admission. Do this before the end of February so you have time to make the change on your application, which closes March 1.
When do I submit my fall grades?
If you're a high school student currently completing classes send us a transcript as soon as you apply! How to send transcripts depends on where you’re studying, so review your Student Centre for details. After that, we'll need a new transcript once your fall grades are available. If you're attending a linear school or completing IB, you can upload your interim or predicted grades in January.
If you’re a transfer student, currently completing classes, you can begin uploading fall grades in January. How to send transcripts depends on where you’re studying, so review your Student Centre for details.
If you are not currently in classes, please submit your transcript right away!
To ensure a consistent and equitable process across the different semester structures being used this year, the University of Calgary will accept transcripts for admission evaluation following traditional semester timelines:
- Grade 11 as soon as you apply
- February for any courses completed between September and January
- July for courses completed between February and June
Students in a non-semester or linear school will be able to submit interim/predicted grades as per our regular processes.
My school won’t release my transcript to me to upload. What can I do?
Login to your Student Centre to view details on required documents and deadlines to your application.
If your school will not release your transcript to you, please have your Guidance Counsellor send the transcript directly to your dedicated Student Recruitment Advisor to be added to your application.
For documents to be used for admission evaluation they need to include your full name, the full name of the school attended, dates of attendance, all courses and credit hours taken (including transfer credit (if applicable)) and the date of issue.
I've been admitted as I high school student, when do I register for courses?

We recommend that you submit your application at least four months prior to the start of your program. Applications that are submitted to the IRCC after 01 May for Fall 2023 entry may not be processed in time for the start of classes.
