Prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship Expanded
The Schulich Leader Scholarship, launched in 2012 by Seymour Schulich, is one of the most prestigious scholarships in Canada. Through 20 partner institutions, including the University of Calgary, up to 100 scholarships are provided each year.
The scholarship is available to students entering science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs, excluding those intended to lead to a career in medicine. The scholarship for engineering students is valued at $100,000 while the science, technology and math scholarships are valued at $80,000.
Historically, UCalgary has been able to offer the Schulich Scholarship to one Engineering student and one Science or Mathematics student each year. Due to increased funding for 2020, this fall we gave scholarships to three Engineering students and three Science students. Learn more about our 2020 Schulich Leader recipients here.
To receive this award, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and must be nominated by your high school. Each high school may only nominate one student per year. Eligible students must demonstrate academic excellence as well as leadership, charisma and creativity.
The nomination deadline for the 2021 Schulich Leader scholarship is January 27, 2021. If you’re graduating from high school and going into an engineering or science major, speak to someone from your high school today to be nominated!
