Research interests

Kati Pasanen is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on the identification of risk factors for sport injury and development of prevention methods to decrease the risk of sport injuries in youth. This includes investigation of biomechanical, neuromuscular, and training load related risk factors for injury, and evaluation of prevention methods to decrease the risk of injury in youth sport. Her research program contains epidemiological, clinical, biomechanical, as well as experimental studies. Dr. Pasanen is well known for her research associated with development and evaluation of neuromuscular training programs to decrease the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, specifically knee and ankle joint injuries in youth sports.
