Research interests

Baaba’s current research area is cellular biomechanics. Specifically, she is investigating the mechano-biology for cells embedded in articular cartilage that is attached to its bone, and for dynamic loading conditions. With a state-of-the-art multiphoton excitation microscope available in the Human performance lab, both mechanical and biological measurement can be made in real time during dynamic loading tests.

Publications

Baaba completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2012 in her home country Ghana. She moved to Calgary in 2014 to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a research focus in tissue biomechanics. Her success and interest in that program propelled her to start a doctoral degree with the biomedical engineering program in 2017.
