Research Interests

Monica's research focuses on the long-term biomechanical effects of ankle sprain injury on lower extremity joint loading. Under the supervision of Dr. Brent Edwards and Dr. Carolyn Emery, Monica's thesis hopes to identify kinetic and kinematic differences between individuals with and without ankle sprain injury history. The results of this work could help develop new ankle injury rehabilitation and prevention exercise programs to slow the progression of post-traumatic ankle osteoarthritis.
