Although many burn injuries in North America happen to adults, worldwide it is estimated that children suffer 90% of all burns.  The physical and psychosocial scarring from burn injury can result in lifelong impairment.

My research aims to quantify the volume and viscoelastic properties of human scarring.  As well, I am a collaborator in the Biernaskie laboratory, where together we are examining potential clinical applications of skin precursor cells with the goal of using autologous cell based therapies for improving wound healing and scar outcomes.
