Research interests

My main research interests are sports biomechanics (i.e. technique, kinematics, and muscle coordination), as well as general muscle function, control and coordination (not necessarily related to sports).

A lot of basic research has been done in this field, and there are still numerous possibilities of investigating basic observations regarding muscle function (obtained on fibre or fibrillar level) on the level of the whole muscle/ the entire MSK system. However, the area my research can mainly contributes to is enhancing our understanding of muscle coordination strategies. Studying the corresponding mechanisms in healthy people first, may prove beneficial when it comes to working with those who suffer from any kind of injury/impairment and, for example, gaining insight into what their needs might be, when it comes to rehabilitation.
